Once the site is up again, you will receive an email notifying you of the new status, and as Twitter is somehow becoming the source of information, the service will also send a tweet to let other people know about it.

That being said, if you want to know what sites are up after they disappeared from the internet, you can follow the updates on Twitter @notifymee.

AreMySitesUp offers a free plan, which lets you add up to 20 sites, and a premium plan, which allows you to add 60 sites. Besides the difference in the number of sites, the interval for checking a site is noticeable between the 2 plans; for instance with the free plan a site is checked at least 25 times per day, while a premium user will have her/his sites checked every 15 minutes.

AreMySitesUp was built by Richard Felix Jr. and Chris Coyier, and you can follow the updates @AreMySitesUp on Twitter.
