NinjaWords is a fast, accurate, and smart online dictionary. The service looks up words, "ninja style"; just type what you are looking for in the search box and watch it go.

WriteRhymes is a handy tool to find rhyming words. The service is very easy to use, it suggests rhymes as you write. This is done by holding the "alt" key and clicking on the word you need to find a rhyme for. Once you do that, a pop-up list is displayed from which you select the word most suitable to you.

WriteRhymes saves you the time of searching rhyming dictionaries, as it does that while you are writing. Once done writing, you have the options to save, copy or print your rhymed text.

Litetype is a web application which will provide you with an Online Virtual keyboard. You can type in more than 50 different foreign languages. LiteType is free and is considered an online virtual multilingual and interactive keyboard tool.

The utility also allows you to search the typed text on Google, Wikipedia, and other resources without leaving the website. You can type in using your mouse or you can even type through your keyboard.

LiteType gives you the option to change skins, save the HTML code, and best of all remove the ads.

Lexipedia is a great language tool that visually displays, the nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, fuzzynyms, synonyms, and antonyms of any word you type in the search box, all displayed on a single page. Hovering over any spoke will bring up it’s definition and usage.

Lexipedia is available in English, Spanish, German, French, Dutch, and Italian. This service is powered by iSeek.

NiceTranslator is a fast, easy to use online translator designed with simplicity and functionality in mind.

Being powered by Google Translation API, allowed the development to be focused on usability rather than hard coding. The interface is neat and straight forward, select the language(s) you want your text to be translated to, and start typing. As you are doing so, the translated text appears grouped by your selection of languages, really handy if you need to translate something to multiple languages at once. I tested the translation of "hello", and it was fun to see the translation change with every keystroke, as much as this is a serious application, but I couldn’t help stopping myself from exploring the fun side of it.

NiceTranslator is considered a new comer to the online translation services, and in my humble opinion is here to stay. It was created during the Fall of 2008 by two "almost-engineers", as they like to call themselves; Hats off to you guys.

Definr.com is a fast, free dictionary based on Princeton’s open WordNet 2.0.

The website framework is Ruby on Rails. Looking up words in a dictionary is easy, so we do that with MySQL and cache the top 10,000 definitions in memory.

Doing word completion (a.k.a. auto-complete, auto-suggest, globbing) is not easy, at least not when you have to search through 200,000 words for every keystroke. So our word completion is done in a C module for Ruby, and the word completion server is separate from the rest of the site.

With the DefinrBot algorithm, we can do 190,000 word completions per second without caching, and that translates to about 10,000 completions per second once the Ruby layer is factored in.

A program that translates text to the phonetic alphabet. It is freeware with the source code avaliable. You can run it in Linux or Windows.
